Britain’s Got Talent viewers were blown away when Amanda Holden hit the golden buzzer just moments into the first show of the new season.

She joined fellow judges Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli and Alesha Dixon as they returned on the hunt for some of the best talent Britain can offer.

The winner of the show gets a £250,000 cash prize and a slot at the Royal Variety Show, and viewers think they may have already found the performer who will take the prize after Amanda Holden dropped the first Golden Buzzer of the season.

Sydnie Christmas from Kent blew the judges away when she took to the stage to sing a rendition of Tomorrow after revealing she dreams of being in the West End.

She had all four judges on their feet, as Alesha told the performer, “You are full of character and personality. You’ve got it all going on. Say no more, girl! You smashed it, so let’s have it!”

While Amanda added: “Sydnie I think for me, what struck me so much about you is how naturally funny, how brilliant, how warm your presence was the minute you walked on the stage.

“How you were entertaining everyone, but then you brought us the most heartfelt, beautiful version of that song, and that was the best version I’ve heard in my life.”

She then reached over to press the Golden Buzzer and shouted: “So I’m going to do this!”

For those who don’t know, the Golden Buzzer means Sydnie is now guaranteed a spot in the live semi-finals and can bypass the boot camp stage.

However, viewers watching from home think she can make it all the way to the final.

Taking to X to share their opinions, one fan wrote: “She’s the winner what a voice.”

While another said:  “Yes! Well deserved Sydnie! Absolute goosebumps, and never heard that song performed better than that. It’s early but I’m calling it. She’s the winner.”

A third added: “Sydnie Christmas: WOW!! I didn't expect that at all. What an amazing audition. Musical theatre isn't usually my cup of tea but this was great. Sydnie has such a lovely voice was great power and control. A nice personality as well. My favourite of the night so far! 👏🏼👏🏼#BGT”.

And a fourth wrote: “This girl is a star. 😮‍💨 #SydnieChristmas”

Hosts Ant and Dec were equally blown away by her performance as the pair returned to take the reigns backstage.

Last month, it was reported that Britain’s Got Talent had a replacement for Ant lined up as he prepares to welcome his first child with wife Anne-Marie Corbett.

The pair are expected to give birth in June this year, which coincides with the competition’s live shows, and ITV bosses are rumoured to be preparing a replacement in case Ant has to dash off while his wife goes into labour.

Britain’s Got Talent returns Sunday, 21st April, at 7:40pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
