A science-fiction thriller series is getting fans seriously excited, with some describing it as “10/10,” a “masterpiece,” and “one of the greatest series of all time.”

Dark isn’t a new series, but many fans are only just discovering it on Netflix. It first debuted on the streaming service back in 2017, and ran for three seasons, the most recent of which landed in 2020. All three seasons are available to view now, and it is the first German original series to have been produced for Netflix.

The German-speaking show is set in the small town of Winden and, when two children go missing, the town’s sinful past is exposed, as are the double lives and fractured relationships that exist among four families as they search for the kids.

There are twists along the way, and a web of curious characters, all of whom have a connection to the town's troubled history, even if they aren’t aware of the fact.

Despite the first season being set in 2019, the story includes supernatural elements that relate to the same town all the way back in 1986 and 1953. Storylines in subsequent seasons take place across many years, both in the past and future.

Viewers who have discovered the show have taken to X to share their love of it. One wrote: “I think it’s the best series that Netflix has and one of the best series in history, my favourite series along with GOT and Westworld.”

Another added: “Easily one of the greatest series of all time.”

Someone else added: “Best show I’ve watched in a while & I’m not even completely through yet. Touches on so many principles and concepts & even when I’ve got it figured, something else is to be found yet again. Brilliant.”

One fan wrote: “10/10 series 🔥”, and another called it “a masterpiece.”

Someone else said: “Dark is still by far, the best show Netflix has ever released to date.'

A commenter added: “#Dark is the best show I've ever watched”

And critics agree, rating the show at a hot 95 percent on review aggregating site, Rotten Tomatoes, while the audience score is 94 percent.

This definitely seems like one to add to your watchlist!
