We might be out of awards season for another year, but there’s no shortage of gripping movies coming out in cinemas.

Some of Hollywood’s biggest names are heading back to the big screen, with Zendaya, Dev Patel and Ewen McGregor all getting a look-in.

So here are the flicks coming to cinemas in April 2024:

Monkey Man (5th April)

Dev Patel makes his directorial debut in Monkey Man. The action thriller, produced by horror movie icon Jordan Peele, also stars Patel as Kid, a young man who is on a mission to hunt down the corrupt leaders who are responsible for his mother’s death.

The likes of District 9’s Sharlto Copley and Bollywood stars Pitobash Tripathi and Vipin Sharma also star alongside Patel in the already critically-acclaimed indie drama.

Seize Them! (5th April)

Something a bit lighter and Sex Education's Aimee Lou Wood and Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan star in hilarious historical comedy, Seize Them!

Set during the Dark Ages, Wood stars as Queen Dagan, who becomes a fugitive after being toppled from her throne by the revolutionary Humble Joan.

The packed-out cast includes Jessica Hynes, Nick Frost, Lolly Adefope, James Acaster and Ben Ashenden.

Back to Black (12th April)

The extraordinary life and career of Amy Winehouse will hit the big screen in biopic Back to Black.

Marisa Abela stars as the late Rehab singer in the movie, which follows her journey to fame from her early years living in London to becoming a Grammy Award-winning artist.

The stellar cast includes The Crown star Lesley Manville as grandmother Cynthia, Jack O’Connell as ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil and Eddie Marsan as dad Mitch.

Bleeding Love (12th April)

Almost a year on from its debut at South by Southwest Festival in 2023, Ewen McGregor’s drama Bleeding Love will get its cinematic release.

The tense familial drama stars McGregor’s real-life daughter Clara McGregor. The pair, who also play father and daughter in the movie, go on a road trip together, but it turns out the destination is rehab following the daughter's recent overdose.

En route to their destination of New Mexico, Father and Daughter encounter an eccentric array of characters, and the two are forced to confront the issues of their past.

Challengers

Zendaya, The Crown’s Josh O’Connor and West Side Story actor Mike Faist star in romantic sports drama Challengers.

The Dune: Part 2 actress plays former tennis prodigy Tashi Duncan, the wife of Grand Slam champ Art Donaldson (Faist), who finds himself on a losing streak. Her strategy? Get him to face-off against former best friend and her former lover Patrick (O’Connor).
