The upcoming fifth season of hit drama You will bring the acclaimed series to a conclusion.

Ahead of its release, Netflix has shared a glimpse at season five of the psychological thriller, which stars Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley and Taskmaster and Ghosts actor Charlotte Ritchie.

The tense series is set to return for its final outing later in 2024, and Netflix has now confirmed that filming has officially begun.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the streaming service said: “Spotted: Joe Goldberg in New York City. The 5th and final season of YOU is now in production.”

The picture shows Badgley crossing the road, dressed all in black with his hands in his pockets.

Fans were excited to receive the update. One person wrote: “I can’t wait💃💃”

Another added: “I love this show. I'm so happy there's going to be another season. I might just have to watch this whole series again.”

One fan suggested: “Oh he definitely following someone here.”

The fourth season saw Joe posing as Jonathan Moore and residing in London, working as an English professor at an esteemed university and apparently leading a sedate existence. He had also been following Marienne (Tati Gabrielle) around Europe, but his new life of solitude was soon disrupted when he formed a bond with a circle of rich socialites, who start to get killed off one-by-one by a serial killer.

While trying to keep his true identity hidden from the group and working to catch the killer, Joe developed feelings for another woman called Kate Galvin (Ritchie).

The season ended with Joe and Kate moving back to New York City, but it remains to be seen what season five will bring.

At this stage, there is no confirmed release date for You season 5,
