Patrick Kielty has gushed about wife Cat Deeley ahead of her new job hosting This Morning.

The Irish TV presenter has been married to the SMTV Live star since 2012 and the couple share two children together.

Earlier this month, both Cat and Good Morning Britain’s Ben Shephard were announced as the official new regular hosts of ITV’s This Morning, effectively replacing Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, both of whom left the long-running daytime show last year.

Ever the supportive husband, Patrick uploaded a sweet montage of moments with Cat from across the years to celebrate her new job, and lovingly shared their family’s pride at her success.

He wrote via Instagram: “I didn’t know what a morning person actually was until I met this woman. She gets up every day with a smile on her face. A 5.30am, whistling in the shower, smile on her face. Then downs two coffees, and gives you the look. The “what the f*€K’s wrong with you, let’s do this” look.

“It’s not a pretend smile. And it’s not just some mornings. It’s every morning. Which is bloody difficult cos she’s married to me. I should also mention she likes a chat. To anyone. About anything. Anywhere.”

Given Cat’s love of chatting away, Patrick then suggested: “If there’s anyone in the world made for a show called @thismorning, it’s this human.”

The Late Late Show host then jokingly urged incoming co-host Ben to “strap yourself in and welcome to my world” as he embarks on the new chapter with Cat.

“We couldn’t be prouder of you @catdeeley Go get ‘em Mama!,” he concluded.

Ben and Cat will present the Monday to Thursday shows, with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary taking over on Fridays. It's not yet clear when their hosting stint will begin, but it's expected they'll take up the new post in March.

Cat previously guest-hosted the show last November, teaming up with Rylan Clark and Craig Doyle after Willoughby and Schofield both left the long-running show.

Speaking about Cat shortly after the announcement was made on air, Alison Hammond said: "We're so, so happy that they are joining the family! Ben and Cat, this is going to be great, isn't it?"

This Morning airs Monday to Friday on ITV and ITVX.
