Gavin & Stacey star Joanna Page has broken her silence around the rumours of another Christmas special.

All eyes have been on the BBC cast after Deadline reported that a new episode of the classic British sitcom, created by and starring Ruth Jones and James Corden, will “film a new episode over the summer with a view to airing at Christmas time this year”.

The report, released earlier this month, suggested the series - produced by Steve Coogan’s Baby Cow - is in the development/pre-production stages, and filming will begin in “a few months time”.

However, co-creator Ruth recently poured cold water on the reunion idea, calling it just a “rumour”.

It seems Stacey star Joanna herself is also none-the-wiser about a potential Gavin & Stacey revival, and while appearing on The One Show last night (27th February), she admitted she knows “absolutely nothing” about the Welsh/Essex contingent reuniting one more time.

Joanna told hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas: 'I don't know anything at all. I've got no other information. Absolutely nothing.

“Sorry, I’ve got no exciting information,” she insisted.

It also comes as The Syndicate star spoke to The Mirror about the whispers. She told the publication: “It’s all gone absolutely mad with those rumours and it’s so sweet and lovely that everybody still loves the show. But cross my heart, I honestly don’t know.

“I’d never ask Ruth or James if they’re planning on writing any more. That would look a bit sad, wouldn’t it? But would I do the show again?”

She continued: “I’d absolutely jump at it. It was a fantastic job with a fabulous cast. We had a right laugh from start to finish. My children recently watched the first Christmas special which they loved.”

Gavin & Stacey tells the story of two families - one in Billericay and one in Barry - whose lives become intertwined when the titular characters (played by Mathew Horne and Page) fall in love and marry.

Following three massively popular series and a Christmas special between 2007 and 2010, the BAFTA-winning show returned for a one-off Christmas episode in 2019, which saw more than 18 million viewers tune in to catch up with their favourite characters.

While the BBC was always the home of Gavin & Stacey, The Sun recently reported that there was a was a bidding war between the Beeb and Netflix for the rumoured new episode, and quoted a source as saying that Cordon and Jones “rang individual members of the cast to float the idea of a one-off special, and every single person was excited and on board.”
