Amy Dowden is getting some of her Strictly Come Dancing pals involved for a new series of her show, Dare To Dance, and Welcome To Wrexham star Rob McElhenney makes an appearance too!

The four-part series will be back on BBC One Wales and iPlayer for a second series, and will see Caerphilly-born Amy meet some incredible would-be-dancers from across Wales.

Dancing star Amy was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May 2023, and had what she hoped was her final chemo treatment in November. Her treatment meant that she was unable to take part in the latest series of Strictly, although she did make an appearance in the final.

Now, the Welsh star is following up the success of series one of Dare To Dance by returning to coach some more amazing individuals through a spectacular dance routine in order to surprise their unsuspecting family and friends. She will meet a Wrexham FC-obsessed couple who have brought forward their wedding due to a cancer diagnosis and a young woman who gave up dancing when she started to lose her sight and lost her confidence. She will also encounter a firefighter who harbours a secret love of dance, and two friends preparing to dance at a big Windrush Day celebration.

Having received her cancer diagnosis days into filming, Amy called on the help of Strictly friends Dianne Buswell, Graziano Di Prima and Oti Mabuse. Viewers can also look forward to a cameo from US actor and Wrexham FC co-owner Rob McElhenney.

In a statement, Amy said: “I am so delighted Dare To Dance is back! When I dance, I feel like I can overcome anything. It’s something I want more people to experience, I really believe it can change your life. I was never going to let my diagnosis get in the way of what I love most and I am thrilled that my wonderful dance family could step in to ensure my wonderful students blew their family and friends away with their performance.”

Dare to Dance will air on BBC One Wales and iPlayer in March.
