The third Taskmaster Champion of Champions special episode is on its way, but it seems that one of the winners won’t be taking part.

Champion of Champions sees the five most recent series winners head back into the Taskmaster house to take each other on. There have been two Champion of Champions so far, and now the winners from series 11 to 15 are set to battle it out.

The winners in question are: Sarah Kendall, Morgana Robinson, Sophie Duker, Dara Ó Briain, and Mae Martin. However, a new post by Taskmaster on X (formerly Twitter) shows that the latter is being replaced.

In a post which says: “Champion of Champions 3, coming soon to Channel 4”, there is a video revealing that Kiell Smith-Bynoe will be appearing as a “super sub” in place of Mae Martin.

Mae won series 15, while Ghosts star Kiell was runner-up. In a statement, Mae said: “I am absolutely fuming at the fact that I am unable to participate in Taskmaster’s Champion of Champions. I would love nothing more than to fight for the title of ultimate champion, and spend another week of my life being ridiculed by Greg. I am, however, confident in the choice to send Kiell to fight on my behalf."

Describing Kiell as “an agile and profoundly competitive young man”, they revealed that, whilst they won’t be taking part, they have “sent some surprises so that my presence is felt. Good luck Kiell, I am holding my breath from the U.S. and rooting for you.”

Meanwhile, the super sub added:  “As if it wasn’t enough pressure representing the whole of black Britain in S15 now I have to represent the entire nation of Canada in Champion of Champions. I’ve never even been. I didn’t even win my series. Look I’ll try, alright.”

It won’t be the only time that Kiell is on our tellies over the festive period, as Ghosts will air its final episode in the form of a Christmas special.  It is set to be an “emotional roller coaster”, according to one of its stars.

And fans of Taskmaster will be excited to learn that there is a New Year’s episode coming, featuring Zoe Ball, Steve Backshall, Kojey Radical, Lenny Rush and Deborah Meaden. Not only that, but a live experience could be on its way. Find out more here.

As yet, there is no confirmed release date for Taskmaster Champion of Champions 3.
