Spice Girls star Mel C has opened up about her feelings when their song 'Stop' failed to reach the top of the charts.

Mel joined Ricky Wilson from Virgin Radio UK's drive time show to talk about her time in the band, before they hosted a Christmas Pub Quiz for Children With Cancer.

Ricky was talking to Mel about how many Christmas number one songs the band had landed until LadBaby came along and took the crown, and Ricky was asking if it bothered her.

"Not really" she laughed, as Ricky said it would get under his skin.

Mel continued: "I think what was more bothersome... Stop was the only Spice Girls song when we were on a roll, that didn't go to number one."

"It went in at number two. That was bothersome because it was Run D MC versus Jason Nevins, which to be fair is a tune," she confessed.

Ricky joked: "That's not bothersome as it was for one direction who had a song called Best Song Ever that went to number two!"

Mel laughed that they have their music trivia knowledge prepared for the quiz, as Ricky admitted he didn't know much about sport, and Mel confessed that she doesn't know much either.

"You'd think I would, wouldn't you!" she laughed, about her Sporty Spice nickname: "Maybe about the nineties."

Mel also realised she had once met Noel Gallagher... only to then forget such a momentous occasion.

Ricky said it happens quite often that someone will ask if he's met a person, he'll say no but then he'll see a picture.

"I remember that happened to me with Noel Gallagher and that's quite a memorable person to meet isn't it" joked Mel, before saying she'd met Liam more.

"It was a busy night!" she laughed.

Ricky couldn't believe that they hadn't crossed paths more often, saying that Oasis and Spice Girls are head-to-head for the best British band ever.

The Ultimate Christmas Quiz was in aid of Children with Cancer and was hosted by Rob Brydon on 11/12/23.

Team Captains included Leigh Francis, Mel C and Ricky Wilson, John Simm & Philip Glenister, Andrea McLean & Nick Feeny, Candice Brown & Giovana Fletcher, Dawn O'Porter & Ollie Locke, Sarah, Duchess Of York Emma Bunton & Jade Jones and MORE!
