An encouraging breakthrough in China in the treatment of Alzheimer’s with electrical brain stimulation and a careful study of 140 patients over the age of 65 and who had the disease for more than six months.

All had taken the Mini-Mental State Exam (MMSE), and all scored very near or under the score that’s seen as abnormal and indicative of cognitive impairment.

Twice daily, five days a week, all received tiny electrical pulses to the brain, known as transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS). Also used as a treatment to improve brain plasticity in Alzheimer’s sufferers through the formation of new neural networks, it’s a proven way to get the brains of sufferers working better. There was a placebo group, of course, all of whom recorded no improvement in their symptoms whereas the patients who had the correct stimulation all showed significant cognitive improvement even after just two weeks. Word recognition, word recall and tests all passed with flying colours for those who’d not had the placebo treatment.

Amazing tech news from Detroit where they've just opened the first road that will charge your electric car while you drive on it.

It’s basically a real life, real world test for an Israeli designed charging system that I shared with you in good news years ago. It’s incredibly clever and it knows when a vehicle fitted with the copper wire receiver it needs to receive the charge is above it and charges only those vehicles. America’s first electric road can charge cars whether they’re parked or moving, and the road is totally safe for other drivers, pedestrians and wildlife. They’ve also installed these things in the car park at Central Station.

If they’re happy with how it works, they’re going to install these charging roads across the road infrastructure of Detroit. The company who built it is working on 18 projects across eight countries.
