Gogglebox’s Daniel Lustig Webb has provided fans with an update on how his husband Stephen is recovering.

The former Gogglebox star broke his ankle in two places while training for the upcoming 2024 series of ITV’s Dancing On Ice, an injury which led to him having to pull out of the competition.

Speaking to The Sun, Daniel revealed: “Stephen’s doing good. He’s got his cast off now, and he’s actually got a boot on for the next six weeks and then he’ll get back to it.

“He’s gutted about Dancing on Ice, he was so excited,” the hairdresser continued, but it’s evident his husband will not be back on the ice anytime soon. “I think it’s going to take a good year to get back to normal, with all the physio and stuff,” Daniel shared.

However, he also said: “I think he’d like to do Dancing on Ice in the future, never say never… I went to see him rehearse and he was doing really well, so I’m sure he’d do it.”

The injury certainly hasn’t knocked Stephen’s confidence, Daniel stressed. “He’s a bit of a daredevil [so] he definitely would give it a go [if the opportunity was offered again].”

Daniel would also be interested, he admitted. “I would love to do it - I actually went ice skating in Brighton the other day and he was like ‘please be careful’.”

Replacing Stephen for Dancing on Ice 2024 is former Winter Olympic ski jumper and fellow daredevil Eddie ‘the Eagle’ Edwards.

Accepting the offer to join the show from its reserve bench, the star said: “It’s bittersweet, as whilst I’m delighted to be taking part in the new series, I’m gutted for Stephen and wish him a speedy recovery.”

Dancing on Ice 2024 will air on ITV1 and ITVX in the New Year.
