Fans of Strictly Come Dancing can rejoice as Amy Dowden, the Welsh pro dancer, is set to make a full-time return to the popular show sooner than expected.

Amy Dowden, who was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer earlier this year, has been unable to participate in the 2023 series due to ongoing chemotherapy and medical treatment.

Amy started the chemotherapy after doctors discovered more tumours, but she has been keeping her spirits up and throwing her full support behind her Strictly Come Dancing co-stars.

However, during Movie Week, Amy surprised the audience with a special appearance, bravely embracing her new look after shaving her head, and even read out the terms and conditions, garnering emotional applause and cheers from the audience and co-stars.

Dianne Buswell, another pro dancer on Strictly, spoke about the heartwarming experience of having Amy back, emphasising how it made the show feel 'right' again.

Dianne conveyed her eagerness for Amy to return full-time soon, bringing further excitement to the fans.

Speaking to Fleur East on It Takes Two alongside celebrity partner Bobby Braizer on Monday (October 9), the Aussie professional said: "It was so exciting to have Amy back with us. It felt like Strictly just felt right again,"

"I text her so many times to say, 'I really miss you here', and to have her there was very, very special."

Dianne then teased: "She will be back with us full-time very soon, so I can’t wait for that moment."

The pair then react to how 'amazing' she looked on the night with Dianne exclaiming: "She looked incredible!"

Amy's positive spirit and determination to embrace her journey have been inspiring.

She has expressed her gratitude for the tremendous support she has received from the Strictly team throughout her cancer treatment.

Amy, who has begun to become known for her resilience, looks forward to putting her dancing shoes back on, with dates already marked in her diary.

The Strictly family has rallied around Amy during her challenging time, staying in touch and showering her with gifts and love.

Amy and Dianne recently made a stunning appearance at the Pride of Britain Awards, where Amy, celebrated for her strength and grace, opted to go wig-less, resonating with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and was hailed as the star of the night in a beautiful pink gown with ribbon detailing.

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday and Sunday on BBC One and iPlayer, while It Takes Two airs weeknights on BBC 2.
