Dancing on Ice has revealed its ninth celebrity skater!

Former Albert Square local Ricky Norwood will be taking to the rink in order to try out a very different kind of performing to what he’s used to as an actor.

News of Ricky’s taking part in the show was revealed on Loose Women on Wednesday, 4th October.

The 40-year-old appeared on the show, where he said: “Being on the ice! I’m apprehensive about the lifts, especially the headbanger.”

But the star added: “I’ve got to trust in the process, trust in the training, trust in the trainers.”

Ricky’s announcement follows that of comedian Lou Sanders, Made in Chelsea’s Miles Nazaire, and Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb the day before.

Lou shares Ricky’s nerves about the show, saying in a statement released on her joining the competition: “I’m nervous about cracking my head open, or just bashing the old head. I can’t afford to lose any more brain cells.”

“I’m also worried about my partner picking me up,” she added, before saying: “He’s going to have to be very strong and very brave.”

Other celebrity contestants announced include: World Champion Boxer Ricky Hatton MBE; the actress Claire Sweeney; the actress and singer Hannah Spearritt; West End star Amber Davies; and Olympic Champion and presenter Greg Rutherford MBE.

Twelve celebrities in total will be taking to the ice early next year on the show, which teases “more glitz, glamour and show stopping performances as the celebrities brave it all to learn this dangerous discipline.”

Dancing on Ice will return to ITV1 and ITVX in 2024.
