A shiny new Big Brother is very nearly back on the box with AJ Odudu and Will Best fronting the iconic show — but who can forget the retro much-loved series back with Davina McCall and Alison Hammond et al?

Rewind to Big Brother 3 in 2002 which introduced us to TV favourite Alison, 27, not to mention former Virgin Radio presenter Kate Lawler. The contestants were filmed 24 hours a day in the hope of bagging the end prize of £150,000. Anyone else remember watching them sleep?

The Great British Bake Off star, now 48, won over the nation with her big heart and even bigger laugh, even though she was evicted just 15 days into the series with only 1,000 votes separating her and fellow housemate Alex Sibley.

Best known now as a host on This Morning, the former 2014 Strictly contestant and 2010's I’m A Celeb… campmate’s best TV moment is undoubtedly when she broke the table in the BB garden.

Having already been in trouble for breaking furniture, the Birmingham lass joined friend Kate outside as they jumped on the table while trying to catch the attention of security guards behind the walls.

As she bopped up and down, to her horror, the table cracked. The pair ran away laughing, but delighted viewers in the process.

Alison went to the diary room and said: "I've done something really really bad right, but really, it is an accident, they're all laughing now right.

"I think I just broke the outside table by jumping on it."

Earlier this year, the mum-of-one cemented herself in showbiz history by becoming the first ever Black woman to host the Baftas.

The former holiday rep said previously about her rise to fame on the C4 show: "Everyone kept saying: ‘You should go into Big Brother'.

"At the time, I was £4,000 in debt. I went into an internet café to apply online."

The new series is back this weekend in its new home on ITV2 with Will and AJ at the helm hosting Big Brother 2023 after five years off air.

The pair are taking over from Emma Willis, who presented the show between 2013 and 2018, and OG host Davina.

Following the announcement, Odudu said: “I’m so excited to finally be able to say that, yes: I’m hosting Big Brother!

“I couldn't be happier,” the 35-year-old added.

"Following in the footsteps of some of my favourite broadcasting legends to front such an iconic show is an absolute honour – and to do it alongside my amazing friend Will is the icing on the cake."

Big Brother will begin airing on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm on Sunday, 8th October. It will continue every night, Sundays to Fridays, for six weeks on ITV2 and ITVX.
