Cian Ducrot’s rise to stardom has been ‘heavenly’ to say the least, and the Irish singer-songwriter has received some support from famous faces along the way.

Speaking exclusively to virginradio.co.uk at the National Television Awards, the 26-year-old revealed the “king of touring” Ed Sheeran - who Cian recently supported on tour - taught the ‘Heaven’ singer some useful lessons about touring.

“The biggest thing I learned from him is his ability to just be so chill,” Cian, who performed live for Virgin Radio on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch in February and again on The Graham Norton Show with Waitrose in July, said.

“He can kind of manage to do anything up until the moment he’s going on stage,” he continued, before recollecting: “We would hang out up until like two minutes before he walked on stage, and I’ve never experienced [anything] like that before.”

The young singer is about to embark on his very own world tour in America in a few weeks time.

“Something I’ve definitely tried to immediately adapt is to be able to kind of, be wherever, do whatever, and you know, not be stressing too much before going on stage,” Cian revealed.

He also said that Ed’s calm and relaxed nature before performing taught him to “let go of feeling like I need a ritual or something” before starting a show.

“A lot of people have rituals and all this stuff, and in the end, I feel like rituals tend to just stress you out. If you don’t do them, you’re like, ‘I haven’t done my rituals’,” he explained.

On the topic of how he is preparing more generally for his world tour, the ‘I’ll Be Waiting’ artist said: “I’m still learning, I’m still thinking about how I’m going to exercise, what I’m going to eat, and just trying to relax as much as I can.”

He added: “[I’m] preparing mentally… But I have so much fun anyway on tour, so I’m just thinking about how I can make it as fun as possible.”

Cian described the time after his debut album Victory made it to number one as both “crazy” and “unbelievable”.

Performing at the NTAs marked his third occasion singing at the O2 arena in London this year, which he humbly said was “not something I ever imagined I would do three times.”

Cian's Victory album world tour begins in the US on 21st September 2023.
