Filming is almost complete in Guadeloupe for Death in Paradise series 13, but which characters can we expect to see in future episodes?

Fans have been gripped by the show, set in stunning surroundings.

If you've ever wanted to visit, you can find out more about the show's gorgeous location here.

Fans have been anxiously waiting to find out if DI Neville Parker is coming back.

Will Ralf Little's DI Neville Parker return to Death In Paradise?

Ralf Little has confirmed that he will be returning as DI Neville Parker for the thirteenth series of Death in Paradise.

The Mancunian actor revealed this during an Instagram Live: "Contracts are signed, sealed. There is another series of Death in Paradise being filmed this year, and I am delighted to say that I am going back and I will be playing Neville Parker again in series 13."

Little first starred in the British-French crime drama in 2013, but as a different character. He was then reintroduced as Parker in 2020.

Ralf Little also shared a video with some creepy-crawly guests.

He told fans: "Surprise guests in the shack! Would you still want to spend a night there?"

He then said that's why he "didn't want to stay."

Filming for the new series began in May. The show’s official Instagram account celebrated this by posting a photo of a clapperboard submerged in a pool.

The caption read: “We're back in Guadeloupe with a splash! Today was our first day of filming series 13 of #DeathInParadise!”

Later that month, Little hosted a Q&A on Instagram with his co-star, Tahj Miles, who plays Officer Marlon Pryce.

For the fans who were eager to find out about the show’s future, Little said: "We wouldn't be able to tell you what happens in the series, obviously, and I mean we don't really know, do we?

“Our guess is as good as yours, but we are excited for it.”

In another Instagram Q&A in October, Little shared an update on filming. He said: “October 27th is our last day filming, and that will be that for this series of Death in Paradise.”

How did Death In Paradise end?

In the series 12 finale, Parker discovered that his girlfriend Sophie Chambers, played by Chelsea Edge, framed him for murder as an act of revenge for sending her sister to prison.

At the end of the episode, we saw Parker sitting on the beach, looking at a photo of him and Chambers. He then deleted the image from his phone and called Commissioner Patterson, played by Don Warrington.

The only part of their conversation we heard is the Commissioner saying, “I’m very glad to hear it, Inspector. Have a good evening”, whilst laughing and smiling to himself.

Parker then visited the local bar Babette’s and spoke to the Mayor of Saint Marie, Catherine Bordey, who is played by Elizabeth Bourgine. The pair toasted “to new beginnings” whilst each enjoying a bottle of beer.

As the 12th season concluded in February, BBC announced that the hit show would continue.

Has Death In Paradise been renewed?

Executive producer Tim Key remarked: “The response to series 12 has been incredible, so we’re delighted that we’ll be heading back to Guadeloupe for at least two more series!

“We’ve got an amazing and joyful Christmas special in store, and then series 13 begins with our 100th episode, so we’ve got plenty of surprises ready to celebrate that milestone.”

If waiting until Christmas for the crime drama to return sounds too difficult, check out its spin-off show, Beyond Paradise. The programme stars Kris Marshall, who reprises his role as DI Humphrey Goodman.

All episodes of Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
