Inspiring news from the USA where they’re auctioning off historic lighthouses to prevent them from falling into disrepair.

These days, where most people can pretty much work from anywhere, people are moving to give themselves a better quality of life and this represents a great opportunity to get an epic view for a non epic price.

Lighthouses have largely ceased to become a thing because of GPS technology, which leaves hundreds of historic buildings that usually come with breathtaking views, but these auctions give DIY and do-er upper enthusiasts a chance to have that view without the usual price tag.

Traditionally the lighthouses, some of which come with huge homes attached, have sold for as little as $10,000. Six of them are going under the hammer this year, all on the east coast by the looks of things and all offering the romance of living where the waves lap your home.

Lip smacking news for fans of Prince as the original demo tape that got him signed to Warner bros in 1977 has surfaced and is being put up for auction in Boston.

When I say demo tape, this isn’t a cassette, it’s a ¼ inch reel to reel tape that features three songs recorded at a studio in Minneapolis all written by and performed by Prince, he played every instrument on all the songs, one of which would be on his debut album.

It comes in the original box with a picture of 18 year old Prince on the front, and handwritten song credits on the back with all songs credited to Prince Nelson, as he was still using his real name. Prince signed with Warner Bros. on June 25, 1977, less than three weeks after celebrating his nineteenth birthday and began a career that would see him become one of the most prolific and influential pop songwriters and musicians the world has ever seen. This incredible lot will give a fan a chance to own a museum piece with impeccable provenance.
