Strictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden reveals breast cancer diagnosis

Amy Dowden from Strictly Come Dancing has revealed that she has breast cancer.

The Strictly professional posted on Instagram, writing: “Hey all, I've got some news which isn't easy to share. 

“I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but I'm determined to get back on that dance floor before you know it. 💖”

The 32-year-old joined the hit BBC show in 2017 and has teamed-up with celebs such as Tom Fletcher and James Bye. In 2019, she was a finalist in the 17th series with TV presenter Karim Zeroual.

The dancer also has Crohn’s disease and fronted a BBC documentary called Strictly Amy: Crohn's and Me in 2020.

Members of the Strictly family past and present took to the comments to send their love following news of her cancer diagnosis. Fellow pro dancer Johannes Radebe wrote: “Sending you love and strength Darling Amy. ❤️"

Another professional, Gorka Marquez, wrote: “We are all in this with you!! Sending all our strength. And you will be with us in the less than 8 counts. We love you Amy ❤️"

Dianne Buswell said: “Our Welsh dragon is going to fight this !!!! and I can not wait for the moment you are back on that dance floor with us. We love you so much Amy.”

Gemma Atkinson wrote: “We’re all Fighting behind you all the way Amy!!!!! 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼 Sending so much love to you ❤️❤️”

Meanwhile, The One Show’s Alex Jones said to her Welsh compatriot: “Oh Amy! Thinking of you and sending you so much love. Cariad mawr ❤️”
