We could be seeing Phillip Schofield donning the sequins if rumours of Strictly Come Dancing are to be believed.

It's reported that Strictly bosses have approached Phillip Schofield following his departure from This Morning.

Phillip also hosts one of Strictly's biggest rivals - Dancing On Ice.

It hasn't been said yet whether Schofield will continue in the hosting role for DOI, as it returns next year.

However, sources are claiming that BBC bosses are keen to make the most of Phillip's profile and the attention it would attract.

A show insider said bosses are keen "because of the publicity it would generate."

They told The Sun: "Phil has been asked before but this time the offer was more aggressive.

"Since he was axed from This Morning, people have been discussing what they could do with him.

"Phil has had approaches from broadcasters like Channel 5 who are keen to discuss possible projects.

"Given he’s currently lying low and trying to work out his next move, it’s unlikely he will put on his dancing shoes but stranger things have happened.

No one thought he’d ever leave This Morning and look how that ended up.’

An ITV spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: "Dancing On Ice isn’t due on ITV until January 2024 and the series is not currently in production."

They said "further announcements" about the presenting line-up would come in due course.

Phillip has been making headlines for weeks, following reported tensions onset with Holly Willoughby.

It has been said that Alison Hammond may replace him.

Fans were shocked when news of his departure was confirmed.

He shared a statement on Instagram confirming the news: "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story. Throughout my career in TV – including the difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind."
