Ahead of the much-anticipated return of The Bear, the first trailer has been released to give us a preview of the kind of chaos we can expect from the new season.

Season one of the acclaimed dark comedy-drama followed award-winning chef Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) who returned to run his family’s Italian beef sandwich shop following his brother’s suicide.

Season two will focus on Carmy’s decision to close the shop and, along with Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and Richie (Ebon Mass-Bachrach), open up a next-level restaurant in its place.

The synopsis explains that, in stripping down the sarnie shop, “the crew undertakes transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future.”

As you might expect, the process of opening up the new place on a six-month timetable doesn’t run smoothly. “The only thing harder than running a restaurant is opening a new one, and the team must juggle the insane bureaucracy of permits and contractors with the beauty and creative agony of menu planning,” the synopsis reads.

“The transition brings a newfound focus on hospitality as well. As the entire staff is forced to come together in new ways, pushing the boundaries of their abilities and relationships, they also learn what it means to be in service, both to diners and each other.”

The new season will see Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colon-Zayas, Matty Matheson, Edwin Lee Gibson and Oliver Platt reprise their roles, while Molly Gordon joins the cast, and we can expect an appearance from Better Call Saul legend Bob Odenkirk.

The Bear season two is set to premiere in the US on 22nd June, and will land in the UK on Disney+ on 19th July.
