Queen Charlotte has landed on Netflix today to take viewers back into the Bridgerton universe.

The new six-part prequel series, which premiered today (4th May), introduces a young Charlotte (India Amarteifio), who is only starting to understand her power and the meaning of love, as she embarks on her life-changing marriage with young King George (Corey Mylchreest).

The cast of the Bridgerton spin-off recently took to the red carpet for a special screening in London’s Leicester Square, and virginradio.co.uk was there to speak to them.

Regarding playing King George in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Corey Mylchreest told us and other press: “He's a very lovely guy. He's very enigmatic. He's learned how to switch on the charm, but it's not necessarily who he is. And he definitely battles his demons and we explore that through the show.”

Speaking about how he prepared to play the character and the issues that he has to deal with, the actor said: “The show's tagline is that we don't know whether it's neurological or physiological, but we know that he's dealing with his affliction. I made my decision, and I spoke to a specialist and did my own research.”

He added. “I think the main exploration was how dealing with that affliction becomes an obstacle to the relationship between Charlotte and George. It's something that the light of their love can shine brighter through in the overcoming of it.”

Meanwhile, India Amarteifio spoke to us about watching Bridgerton while on the set of Queen Charlotte. “I'd seen season one. Then season two came out when we were in rehearsals," she said. "I've binged a lot and probably should have been doing my lines…but I was obsessed!”

We also spoke to director Tom Verica about the possibility of there being a season two. Find out what he had to say here.
