Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story dropped on Netflix today and director Tom Verica already has his sights on a second season.

Some fans are already saying they love the prequel even more than the original series after it prequel this morning (4th May), with hopes there could be a second instalment.

Well, we might be in luck because, speaking to virginradio.co.uk and other press at the UK premiere of the show in Leicester Square earlier this month, Verica hinted there may be more to come.

When asked if there could be another Queen Charlotte series, he said: “That’s the big question. That’s the one that only Shonda Rhimes can answer.

“I would love to. I’d be happy to on it.”

The prequel focuses on the monarch’s rise to power and how her marriage to King George was not only an incredible love story but sparked a societal shift that changed the world of the Ton for the Bridgerton characters.

Golda Rosheuvel, who plays Queen Charlotte in the Bridgerton series, also makes an appearance, with India Amarteifio playing a young version of the monarch.

For Verica, one of his favourite scenes in the entire prequel came from Golda.

He revealed: “As I went through editing, and watching the scenes over and over, I fell in love with the show in a whole other way. Seeing it all pulled together.

“But Golda, there's a scene in one episode, the final scene is a pretty amazing one. And once you’ve seen it, it's a pretty special moment. I have such fond memories every day of filming with this cast, and doing the scenes. It was really special.”

We also spoke to Amarteifio, who revealed her Bridgerton “obsession” when filming and caught up with King Charles actor Corey Mylchreest, who told us about how he prepared for the role.
