India Amarteifio lived and breathed the life of Bridgerton while preparing to play the young Queen Charlotte in the brand new spin-off series.

The prequel series, which has finally landed on Netflix from today (4th May), focuses on the monarch’s rise to power and how her marriage to King George (played by Corey Mylchreest) was not only an incredible love story but sparked a society shift that changed the world of the 'Ton for the Bridgerton characters.

Luckily for Charlotte star India, she had two series of Bridgerton to refer to when studying the character so expertly played by Golda Rosheuvel, and while on the red carpet for the Special Screening in April, the rising star shared how she became utterly enthralled with ‘The ‘Ton’ while on set.

Speaking to viriginradio.co.uk, India shared: “I'd seen season one. Then season two came out when we were in rehearsals. I've binged a lot and probably should have been doing my lines…but I was obsessed!”

On why she believes the period drama has received such fan fare, India put it down to a certain something that other royal series can’t quite get right.

She continued: “I think it's just got something…I can't put it into words because it just has its own air. It's Bridgeton and its own genre.”

India also praised her counterpart Golda for curating the Queen Charlotte fans love today, and called the celebrated actress “a force.”

“She just has this presence that I don't think I have,” India continued. “To be considered anywhere near her equal is remarkable. It was really nice. I kind of had the opportunity to make my own Charlotte and that was great. What I kind of live for is this, the acting part is why I do my job.”

Golda in turn also shared her love of India April’s Queen Charlotte Special Screening, and told virginradio.co.uk all about their “sisterhood” on set.

She explained: "Before they cast her, they asked me, "Can we get a picture of your younger self?" So that's what I sent in,. When we met, it was like a sisterhood. She's such an amazing human being and an amazing actress and she's really blossomed and grown through this character in this experience, and I cannot wait to see what she does in the future..."
