New episodes of the popular Netflix show are not too far away.

Netflix have released a new trailer for the third season of fantasy series The Witcher.

A teaser from the streaming service also reveals that the upcoming season will be split into two parts: Volume One, made up of five episodes, will be released on 29th June, with the three episodes of Volume Two dropping several weeks later, on 27th July.

The show began back in 2019 and is based on the bestselling series of books by Andrzej Sapkowski.

The new trailer, less than a minute long, teases that “this summer, everything changes”, giving brief glimpses of the new episodes - including some more exciting action sequences and stunning visuals.

Fans are making the most of seeing Henry Cavill return as Geralt of Rivia, as in October it was announced that the actor would be leaving the show after this season.

In a statement, he said: “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for season 4.”

The role will be taken over by The Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth, who said: “Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure.

“I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.”

Other returning cast members include Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Line of Duty’s Royce Pierreson as Istredd, and Killing Eve’s Kim Bodnia as Vesemir.

There will also be a host of intriguing new characters introduced in season 3, including Fleabag’s Hugh Skinner as King Vizimir’s playboy brother Prince Radovid.

The Witcher Season 3: Volume One will premiere on 29th June on Netflix.
