We all know someone who is a sucker for a good true-crime documentary or a horror flick.

Two new channels to give you a fear fix have arrived on Freeview today.

HorrorXtra will debut on Freeview on channel 69, replacing Reality Xtra 2,

It was previously available on Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat with limited broadcasting hours of 5pm to 2am.

It will now start from 8am if you fancy watching horror in the daytime.

It includes the likes of the Mutant X series, Journey to the Center of the Earth and Knight Rider.

Real Crime is the other brand new channel, landing on channel 288.

It will be available to all compatible WiFi-connected smart TVs or Freeview Play-box owners.

Further changes to Freeview are being made with HD upgrade plans, meaning BBC One will now be in HD on channel 101.

Regions getting this change include: BBC One West HD, BBC One South West HD, BBC One North East & Cumbria HD, BBC One North West HD, BBC One South HD (South), BBC One South HD (Oxford), BBC One East HD (East West), BBC One East HD (East East) and BBC One South East HD.

Channel 101 didn't have regional variations previously, meaning viewers saw a red screen as local news aired.
